چکیده

One of Ethiopia’s main challenges is increasing wheat production and productivity by designing implementing an appropriate policy. The country has a supply demand gap, forcing the to spend substantial amount foreign currency for imports, which are primarily derived from coffee oilseed exports. imbalance between presents serious policy issues. purpose this study was evaluate effects policy, processing industrial on yield using Vector Error Correction (VEC) Tobit models. comparative use both vector error correction models enables useful critiques applicability models’ results indicated that had significant positive production. Importantly, sign estimated coefficients consistent across (i.e., VEC models). More specifically, technical change, market coordination, integrated interventions were positive, thereby confirming implementation would significantly increase productivity. Effect of Fungicide on the Development of Wheat Stem Rust and Yield of Wheat Varieties in Highlands of Ethiopia

Stem rust caused by Puccinia graminis f.sp tritici Erik. & E. Henn. is a highly destructive disease of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The effects of fungicide application on stem rust (Puccinia graminis tritici) epidemics and yield of three bread wheat varieties varying in reaction to the disease were studied in two major wheat growing and stem rust prone districts (Agarfa and Sinana) of Bale, E...

Raising yield potential in wheat.

Recent advances in crop research have the potential to accelerate genetic gains in wheat, especially if co-ordinated with a breeding perspective. For example, improving photosynthesis by exploiting natural variation in Rubisco's catalytic rate or adopting C(4) metabolism could raise the baseline for yield potential by 50% or more. However, spike fertility must also be improved to permit full ut...

Policy Influences on Genetic Diversity in Australian Wheat Production

The research reported in this paper has its origins in a wider project (e.g. Brennan et al. 1999a) examining economic dimensions of genetic diversity in the wheatgrowing industries of Australia and China. Part of this study involved the econometric estimation of the supply of and demand for genetic diversity in the Australian wheat industry. Especially since 1945, government policy has had a ma...
